The SPC for Serevent Diskhaler [1] has a section (4.8) on undesirable effects.  This does not list mood changes, reporting:

“As with other inhalation therapy, paradoxical bronchospasm may occur with an immediate increase in wheezing and drop in peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) after dosing. This responds to a fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator. Serevent Diskhaler should be discontinued immediately, the patient assessed, and if necessary an alternative presentation or therapy should be instituted.

The pharmacological side-effects of â2-agonist treatment, such as tremor, subjective palpitations and headache, have been reported, but tend to be transient and to reduce with regular therapy. Tachycardia may occur in some patients. In common with other â2 agonists, cardiac arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and extrasystoles) have been reported in association with the use of salmeterol, usually in susceptible patients.

Potentially serious hypokalaemia may result from B2-agonist therapy.

There have been reports of the following: hypersensitivity reactions such as rash and oedema including angioedema; muscle cramps, non-specific chest pain, arthralgia, nausea, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia and oropharyngeal irritation.”

With regard to Beclomethasone we found information on an American Merck site [2] which includes the following list of adverse events:

“Psychiatric disturbances: Corticosteroid use may cause psychiatric disturbances, including depression, euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, and personality changes. Pre-existing psychiatric conditions may be exacerbated by corticosteroid use.” NOTE: our emphasis.

The same Merck site also reported on salmeterol [3] and this made no mention of mood or related conditions.
