Unfortunately, the NLH Q&A Service is not qualified to advise clinicians on a particular course of action. Our role is to try and locate specific literature to help support the clinical decision.
GP Notebook has a section on facial flushing [1] which has four main categories of causes of flushing:
“neoplastic
inflammatory
drug-induced facial flushing
others”
The page (URL below) links to possible causes of each of these.
eMedicine has a chapter on malignant carcinoid syndrome [2] which might be of interest. This includes an extensive section on the clinical picture.
Given our inability to advise it may be appropriate to discuss any investigation/referral concerns with a local oncologist.
