Question answered:17/07/06 Warning! this question is over two years old.

A search of the TRIP database, Cochrane Library and Pubmed found no information on adverse effects of multiple immunisations.

The Department of Health has posted the immunisation schedule with supporting documentation onto its website and the minutes of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (1) meeting detailing the reasons for their decision.

“The Committee was invited to consider a paper outlining a revised childhood immunisation programme incorporating pneumococcal vaccination and booster doses of Hib and MenC vaccines. This paper set out the evidence and supporting data for these changes.”

“Following a detailed discussion of the rationale behind the proposed changes, the committee welcomed and agreed the proposal outlined in the paper. It also agreed that the paper describing the evidence and rationale for these changes, should be made available to health professionals and the public.”

The full minutes are freely available to view at http://www.advisorybodies.doh.gov.uk/jcvi/mins191005.htm

which then incorporates a link to the paper explaining the rationale which is too extensive to duplicate here http://www.advisorybodies.doh.gov.uk/jcvi/childhoodimmunisationoc05.pdf
