Unfortunately, we cannot answer this question.

 

We searched the NLH Gastroenterology and Liver Specialist Library and TRIP and Medline databases but found no guidelines or studies comparing a strategy of prescribing prophylactic antibiotics for patients with obstructive biliary stones compared to treating with antibiotics when necessary in order to prevent hospital admissions.
