About Trip Answers

TRIP Answers is a repository of clinical questions and answers drawn from a wide number of sources around the world and builds on TRIP’s ten years experience of answering clinical questions. Ultimately, we want to create a resource where clinicians can easily find answers to their question and, who knows, create a clinical Q&A ‘space’ where users can share their own Q&As (it’s always struck us as wasteful that clinicians around the globe answer questions and this effort is never shared!)

To locate Q&As simply use the searchbox, using keywords of interest.  If you can't find a Q&A why not let us know (jon.brassey@tripdatabase.com); while we can't promise to answer it, we may be able to help.

The anatomy of an individual Q&A

Each Q&A has a number of distinct areas:

Question: This is typically the free-text question the clinician has used - that explains the occasional spelling error.

Answer: This area starts with the date it was answered and if it is over 2 years old a warning (that it's over 2 years old!).  Then there is the answer the respective Q&A service used. While the Q&A services used in TRIP Answers typically use a similar methodology (see the methodology used by ATTRACT as an example - click here).

Comments: If you want to comment on any aspect of the Q&A, use this form. Please note, we do not respond to questions from patients.

Related articles: This brings back articles that are closely related to the Q&A, this can be especially useful if the related articles are newer than a particular Q&A.

Relevant searches: Many of the Q&As have been enhanced with relevant search terms.  This allows you to simply click on the link (to with TRIP or PubMed) to pull back the latest search.
